The White Helmets (also known as the Syria Civil Defence) have been active for the past five years, recognized often by their distinct headwear, and currently have over 3,000 volunteers on the ground in Syria dealing with the aftermath of the earthquake, trying to save lives with limited resources available to them. They are perhaps the most widely known organization in Syria taking on this type of work and are currently accepting donations through Paypal or by credit card via the main page of their website.
